Pimp My Ride

August the 8th, about a month ago; we went to San Francisco city for a day out. We realized it been awhile we stepped the city and thought it will be great to hang out and since Chris is back. It was a nice day and Calvin drove instead of Bart train. Guess, Calvin realized he has not really spent time with me and always put his work first. And that’s how the idea of going to San Francisco.

As we were walking from store to store, I realized I need a dress for a wedding that I soon need to attend. What next? Of course it’s going to be dress hunting. It was head ache hunting. I can’t find a perfect dress from Guess to BCBG to Bebe and almost giving up. So, we all decided to watch movie at the mall which Calvin suggested and I wanted to check on Juice Couture before heading up since it’s on a way. As I flip and flip and decided to go….. I SPOTTED a BLACK DRESS! PREFECT for a wonderful dinner! BUT wait! Needed to check on the size first since I’m petite. He he he……….. I got my size and the cutting fit me just right. Juicy Couture it is!
I can’t remember what we watch. Gosh…. I’m getting old these days.

After movie, we rushed to our favorite Thai restaurant in town. We never miss it every time we in the city and of course we will always introduce our friends the good food. Trust me! This restaurant was way too good and you can’t find any restaurant that can beat them YET. Once you try these restaurant you will always wanted to come back and you will start comparing to the other restaurants.

Spotted an interesting car

Aquarium @ Sea Sport – Day # 3

After breakfast with my mom; all of us went to my mom’s office as Calvin needed to use an internet. Yeah…. My home has no internet for him to check his mails. All I know, I just have to wait for him and think about what to do later on. The biggest challenge for us is the weather. The weather is normal in my hometown. It’s not a wet season yet. But it’s way too HOT for us to handle.

Yeah…… I finally understand what my friends try to tell me long time ago. I so used to the California weather and I are going to fry when I get home. Not that I don’t believe them but I just thought I can handle it as I grew up for more than 20 years with such a hot weather. Alas, I’m so wrong. I can’t handle it. In time I just felt so weak and dizzy from the hot weather. But I kept on telling myself it’s the holidays. I should have fun.

Somehow, we ended up at Sea sport right after Calvin’s done with his daily routine. You’re going to laugh at this. First we picked sea sport is because they have aquarium. Back to those days, this place is a great place to hang out and they provided TV’s and sofas for you to lounge. So, the first thing I step in I was pretty amazing than everything look the same. Nothing changes. Saw the shark. Then as I continue to walk the aisle…….. Guess what happen??? We were sweating like HELL. Can you believe no aircon at all in the aquarium??? What happen??? The reason why we there is because of the aircon and nothing about the fishes. Come on…… I can see the biggest aquarium in California and it’s only less than 2 hours drive.

Calvin was complaining about how we survive in this island. Everything is hot. I believe people adapt the surrounding. What so funny is that, we manage to find the switch power for the aircon. Guess what happen next?? Calvin turned them on. ALL OF THEM!!! Gosh…. We just stand in-front of the AC for a long time and try to stay as long as we can. Calvin doesn’t even want to go anywhere else. I’m so worried that Calvin not going to enjoy his trip and that’s why I gave him advance notice about my place.

That’s all for now.

Korean Fried Chickens, Soju & Kimchi

After getting all the stuffs for the drama; I went home and waited for Calvin as we are heading to a friend house for dinner. Well, just a hang out thingy since Elaine’s hubby is here.

Nothing much happening, just eat, talk, play some games while watching movie. It was a relaxing night for everyone. On the same night, Calvin decided to go for a drink. Guess what??? SOJU!! Since the Korean town is so close to where we live now, why not go for a drink since the night is still young.

It reminded me the old time when I used to go there a lot for the BBQ. Too bad, they don’t serve the cocktail soju. Meaning…. No drinking for me. Besides I enjoyed myself as much coz I got to enjoy my most favorite Korean Fried Chickens. I just LOVE fried chicken a lot. It just fixes everything to me.

Kimchi

Kimchi refers to a group of pickled vegetables that is an essential part of every Korean meal. It is most commonly made with napa cabbage, though daikon radish and cucumber are also used.

The history of kimchi goes back thousands of years, but it didn’t earn its trademark color and bite until the 1600s, when traders from the New World introduced fiery red chile peppers to Korea.

Basic kimchi is made by layering leaves of salted napa cabbage between leeks, garlic, ginger, chiles, and salted fish. The cabbage is bundled together, packed into a large earthenware jar, and covered with brine. As it ferments, the lactic acid produced imparts a unique sour flavor to the pickle, similar to German Sauerkraut.

Kimchi is most commonly eaten as a side dish, though it can be used to spice up a pork stew called kimchi jigae. Hot, crunchy, and beyond piquant, kimchi has gained an international reputation and has become synonymous with Korean cuisine.

Mission Drama Team

As you guy had know that I’m doing a drama for the children ministry. And we lucky to have a mission team to join our team for that particular week. It‘s great for the actors as they can take a break.

I met them on Friday to discussed about the whole thing and giving out scripts to them. And also personally meet them as I never meet them before. They all very young and they are skaters too. Never get a chance to hang out with skaters before. They full of energy and funny too. I had so much fun with them.

We did a little practice on that day, so that I can see bigger pictures on how they going to do it. And also to see what I need to prepare for them as well. Everything went so well. Really impressed on how they got it so fast. We did not practice for long as all of us have things to do after that. And me, I had to run around to gets costumes. YES! It’s never easy as you can see. Driving around and looking for it is very tiring. Sometimes, you just fight inside of you about prices too.

Already, can’t really write long for this entry. Need to do some cleaning before master comes home.

Tata and enjoy the photos I provided.

Soto - Day # 3

What is soto??

Wikipedia ~ Soto, sroto, tauto or coto is a common dish to be found in various regional variations of Indonesian cuisine. It is a soup mainly composed of broth, meat and vegetables. The meats that are most commonly used are chicken and beef, but there are also variations with offal, mutton, water buffalo meat and pork. The soup is usually accompanied by rice or compressed rice cakes (ketupat or buras). Sotos are commonly differentiated by the meat ingredient in them, e.g. soto ayam (chicken soto) and soto daging (beef soto). Offal is a very common ingredient in soto, and is considered as a delicacy: the rumen (blanket/flat/smooth tripe), reticulum (honeycomb and pocket tripe), omasum (book/bible/leaf tripe) and the intestines are all eaten.

Other ingredients of soto include soon alternatively spelled as sohun (rice vermicelli), mung bean sprouts and scallion.

Soto spices include the following: shallot, garlic, turmeric root, galangal, ginger, coriander, salt and pepper.

Soto can have a clear broth, a yellow transparent broth (coloured with turmeric) or a milkiy coconut-milk broth.

Now you understand it. Well, I missed soto so much that I kept on repeating to my mom and sisters about me having a craving for soto. I have not found any of this here yet. Maybe I should check out Indonesian restaurant instead.

On day 3, Calvin and I still woke up early as usually due to our jet lag. We had a deep sleep the night before coz we very very tired but not expecting to wake up early. This time we did not drop my sister to school as we prefer to get ready and go for breakfast. I woke Jessica up to check on her whether she want to join us for breakfast or not. That’s when they decided to bring me for my soto. Soooooo excited about it.

As fast as I can remember, I’m kinda disappointed a little bit. It doesn’t taste the same as I remember. The broth is not as yummy as before but I can’t complain coz it’s a different person who made it. The broth tasted a little bit watery to me. Think they lack of some beef or chicken bone on it. That’s why; I did not go for the 2nd time. LOL……….

Think the next trip, I should ask my sister to try the whole town and bring me to the best one. By the time I got there, she soto out already.
