Nothing special here in the States. I don’t feel like Chinese New Year at all beside called home and wishes everyone. Been going out since Friday to have dinner with difference friends. It’s really nice.
So, on the eve Calvin and I supposedly meet up with our friend, Quyen at the temple. But things happen and we went to the different temple. It’s my mistake I have to say. I asked Calvin if he know any temple around that area and he told me yes. And he assume should be the one he thought of, which we thought there only one temple around that area. Actually no! There have 2 temples. So, we decided to meet up next time for dinner.
Calvin never went to a night event at the temple before. So, he kinda excited and anxious what he going to see. Well, it’s a little different from my hometown. Usually, I went to the temple close to mid-night and then party with friends till dawn. Anyhow, we manage to take lotsa photos. Check it out!
Last Saturday, went all the way to San Mateo to meet up with Ivy, Cypress and Herman for an early Chinese New Year dinner together. As you guys know, we don’t have a public holidays since we not in Asia.
Anyways, they took us to a new place and they told us they have the best sweet and sour pork. And Calvin eagerly wanted to try it. I forgot the name of the restaurant but it’s a small restaurant with friendly server. The boss kept on coming to check on us which were nice of her. She did recommend some dish for us since Calvin wanted noodle so badly. LOL……..
The food was good indeed. For sure we will come back for more in the future. Beside, Calvin and I love trying new restaurants.

Last Friday, Calvin and I went to Shabu-shabu with some friends Betty, Rath and James. Just a mini gathering for the Chinese New Year weekend. This is Calvin’s favorite meal. I remember we always came and eat once a week but after we moved down here, we seldom go because we so loving the house.
Well, Shabu-Shabu is a Japanese style for hot pot. This dish use thinly sliced meat and vegetables and usually served with dipping sauces. However, it is starkly taste differently which shabu-shabu is more savory and less sweet. It is considered a winter dish but is eaten year-round.
It’s really easy which you can just do it at home. Calvin and I planning to get one soon which we can just stay home and watch telly while eat our favorite dish. Gosh…….. I’m all about food.

As you might not know, Calvin and I have a turtles at home. They’re big now. Naughty but adorable. This turtles mean a lot to Calvin. Even they don’t make noise but they know how to communicate with us human. Maybe just us. They know how to ask us to turn off the light, whether it’s cold or hot. Wonder how?? They used the shell and knock the tank over and over again till we do it. And they stop make so much noise. They even tell us when they hungry. It’s really amazing how they react to just letting us know on what they need. And they’re kind of nosy too. Everything I went and cook in the kitchen, they very excited and wanted to see what I’m doing. They will follow every direction I go. Very cute indeed!
Do you ever witness turtle kiss? We did. They’re such a loving couple. Love to kiss all the time and sometimes bully each other for no reason. And we even saw the male tried to mate with the female. Very very interesting. They really bring laughter to the house even they just a turtle.
So one night, Calvin and I were watching Telly. We heard the big one making so much noise and wonder what he was doing. And we just let it be coz we were so into the show and thought we will check it out later. Then, he became so quiet and I just glance the tank to check if they sleeping. And I saw the big one standing over there and I quickly took my camera and shot it. He he he….. He stands still for me to shot him. He does love attention as always.
Well, my younger sister always asked me if we named the turtles. The answer was NO.
