Woke up early to catch our early flight to Kota Kinabalu to transit to another airline which we have to wait for 5 hours. Thinking of going to the mall but we have no idea on what to do with our luggage and we ended waited at the airport which looked like a retarded. Malaysia has these limited flights where you can’t fit in your time. Basically just sitting around waiting for the connection flights. By the time we reached Singapore, it’s pretty late and tired where my mom don’t even feel like going anywhere and we just went for a quick dinner and rested for the next day adventure.
This sacred food of Native Americans is technically not rice at all, but an aquatic cereal grass, Zizania, producing slender hard black grains. It is now commercially produced in California and several Midwest US states, although it is native to the Great Lakes area. The cooked grain has a chewy texture, and with its nutty taste makes a robust base for salads, stuffings, pilafs.
Wild rice is prepared like rice, and benefits from a thorough cleaning in a bowl of water to remove any debrits. It takes about 30 minutes to cook, which allows the hard, dense grains to reveal their starchy white interior. It is high in protein and fiber and a good source of minerals and vitamins.
Wild rice was once an important grain in ancient China gathered from the wild. It is expensive, but combines well with white rice, brown rice, or bulgur wheat.
This is an old post back in February this year which falls on the first day of Chinese New Year and also Valentine’s Day. Nothing to be excited about Chinese New Year but excited for Valentine’s day; the day I love the most cause I get to be pampered by the love one. I don’t remember if I get anything this Valentine’s Day and I did not get anything for hubby. Guess, we just an old couple that don’t care about gifts no more. One thing I know is that; we did go out and dine for the special day. Something we both love to do. Enjoy food!
We went to Simply Fondue’s Restaurant at Livermore. Not far from where we live now. Moving around is not as bad as I thought. I get to explore new restaurants in new places and make our live so fresh every day.
