Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana

Got this plant from my hubby, nothing special about it. He just randomly bought it for me and thought I will love it. I love it so much. It grows really well. It’s really sweet when someone gets you something when you not expected. It’s the thoughts that count and not the cost of it.

Wikipedia ~ Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is a commonly cultivated plant of the genus Kalanchoe. They are succulent plants and can grow up to 12”. The flowers consist of four petals and can be red, purple, orange, yellow and white and the plant may flower all year round.

Hiemalis Begonia

I got this plant for my birthday this year from a good friend of mine. Never thought this plant can last for a long time coz my plant usually dies on me. The main reason why my plants always die is because I forgot to water them. But I’m getting better now and that’s why none of the plants die.

Ingredients :

2 teaspoons salted black beans
oil, for cooking
2 teaspoons sesame oil
500g (1 lb) chicken thigh fillets, cut into thin strips
3 cloves garlic, very thinly sliced
4 spring onions, chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
1 red capsicum, sliced
100g (3 1/2 oz) green beans, cut into short pieces
300g (10 oz) Hokkien noodles
2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Method:

1) Rinse the black beans in running water. Drain and roughly chop.

2) Heat a wok until very hot, add 1 tablespoon of oil and the sesame oil and swirl it around to coat the side. Stir-fry the chicken in three batches, until well browned, tossing regularly. Remove from the wok and set aside.

3) Reheat the wok, add 1 tablespoon of the oil and stir-fry the garlic and spring onion for 1 minutes. Add the black beans, sugar, capsicum and green beans, and cook for 1 minute. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of water, cover and steam for 2 minutes.

4) Gently separate the noodles and add to the wok with the chicken, oyster sauce and soy sauce, and toss well to combine. Cook, covered, for about 2 minutes, or until the noodles are just softened.

Bird Park – Day # 3

After the chimney museum, we went across to the bird park since us already there. It was a HOT day but since it’s a vacation why not do everything we can. The bird park is not as big as any other places due to the land limitation on the island. They don’t have a lot of variety of birds but pretty surprised to see some oversea birds. Can’t believe they actually shipped it over to share with the people on the island. Especially for children and poor families that never have the chance to go somewhere and enjoy the foreign birds.

It used to be free entrance but they had change the regulation and we have to pay for the entrance fee. Not expensive for the local as it’s only cost you RM5.00 and they have another fee for foreigner which is weird and it cost a little bit higher. But as for Calvin he paid local fee as we speak for him. The only think they know if you’re local or not are to speak Malay. My Malay is not as good as I used to be but still okay. If you ask me to write in Malay, I don’t think so.

It does change a bit from the last time I was there. Can’t really remember when the last time I’m there. I’m not good in memories these days. Maybe something I would like to erased from my memories. Alright people…. Pictures time!

Then Came to the Blue Chicken. As for the brown one, we saw them later as we walked around the park.

This owl was next to the blue chicken

Cyclamen

Wikipedia ~ Cyclamen is a genus of 23 species of flowering plants, traditionally classified in the family Primulaceae, but in recent years reclassified in the family Myrsinaceae. The genus is most widely known by its scientific name Cyclamen being into common usage; other names occasionally used include sowbread and sometimes, confusingly, Persian violet, or Primrose.

Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in Northeast Africa in areas such as Somalia. They are perennial herbaceous aestivating plants, with a surface or underground tuber 4-12cm diameter, which produces leaves in late winter, and flowers in the autumn; the leaves die down during the hottest part of the Mediterranean summer drought to conserve water. Each leaf or flowers grows on its own stem, which shoots up from the hypocotyls. The variegation is thought by some botanists to be a form of natural disruptive camouflage to reduce grazing damage by animals.

The hypocotyls grows leaves and flowers on stems, either one flower or one leaf per stem. The stem for leaves and flowers appears identical except in height. The leaves grow on stems of around 6-9cm height.

The leaves grow on stems up to 8cm tall and form a tightly bunched circular disk of leaves. Leaves are rounded to triangular, 2-10cm long and 2-7cm broad, and usually variegated with a pale silvery horseshow-shaped mark round the middle of the leaf. The top of the leaf is split with the split extending to the connection with the stem. A common cultivar available in western shops has a leaves with a heart shape.

The stems for flowers rise from the middle of the disk of leaves. The stem for flowers grows up to 12cm tall, and the end of the flowers stem curves 150-180 degrees downward. The flower bud terminates the stem. The various cultivars produce flowers with either four or five united petals growing from the edge of the flower bud. The petals are usually reflexed back 09 degree to 180 degree to be erect above the flower bud, and vary from white through pink to red-purple, and most commonly pale pink.

The fruit is a five-chambered capsule 1-2cm diameter, containing numerous sticky seeds about 2, diameter. Natural sed dispersal is by ants, which eat the sticky covering and then discard the seeds. Cyclamens are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including The Gothic.

The cyclamen is also the national flower of Isreal.

Chrysanthemum Morifolium

I finally post some FLOWER to share with you guys. It been ages since the last time I post it. I been lacking of practicing with my plant and I think I lost the good sense of it. I kinda disappointed with my shots this time. I don’t know what I’m thinking. I can’t even accept what I’m seeing right now. Which I can re-shoot but the flowers are all got. Winter is coming so I have to wait for the next spring for them to bloom. Argh…… hate it.

Three Days After

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photos above showed what happen on day three. She was so hipper as if nothing happen to her. Basically on the day she got home, I thought her going to be all tired but I was wrong. She can jump and run like normal. She doesn’t even know the word PAIN.

BUT I had a hard time sleep at night the first night. She was in PAIN and cried most the night. I don’t know what to do so I stayed up all night comforting her. I can see her so uncomfortable but I’m helpless Nothing much I can do but to hold her and tell her everything is okay. I just can’t wake for the morning (next day) to give her medication and some food. I’m not sure if she hungry or in pain, u get what I mean. What more I have to give her half the amount of her food. PITY!

She asked for more food each time but I told her NO and she will give me the puppy face. Argh….. HATE it when I can’t do anything about it. I give her some treats in between when she cried coz I know she hungry and try to keep her from too hungry. It does help a bit. She felt upset when we told her not to jump or run coz she love to do that. And we have to find a way to keep her busy. It’s really hard! We can only try our best.

This is only half of her toys
