Geckos

When I was in China Town, Vancouver B.C. I came across this exotic herb store. The first thing I saw was this lizard or iguana. I was like, what the heck is that? And I found out, it’s actually good for our system as Chinese loves to cook herds and stuffs.

This little creatures called Geckos (Chinese pronounce: Bi Hu). These are sold in pairs of male and female. The reptiles are dried, and skewered so that the body remains flat. The head is removed before they go into a chicken soup cooked in steamer. As long as the gecko retains its tail, men will not refuse a bowl of this soup. Women have no fear the loss of the tail, and they take the soup to give their skin tone a boost. Ground into powder, the geckos become a medicine which can be given to children who suffer from asthma. Geckos can also be steeped in wine for a certain amount of time, and the resulting potion consumed.
