Cypress Turned ONE

Last 2 weeks, Cypress had turned ONE. Time flies really fast without you realize it. I been always wanted to posted but never got the time to do so and I want to fix my photos before I posted it.

So, Cypress didn’t celebrate a big birthday party but over all we had a blast. One year ago, I remembered Calvin and I went to the hospital and he still so tiny. We don’t even dare to carry him as he was so fragile but that was so yesterday. One year later, he was one of a strong boy. He grown so much and every times I saw him, he always had a new tricks.

We had a barbeque at their house. Omg, the chicken wings, the ribs, steaks……….. All of them taste so yummy. Forget to take photos of it. We had a great time!

This is Cypress. The big boy!

The cake which is all hand made by Ivy. Even the bees! And us! Don’t we look like a happy family???

Telephone Car / June Birthday

I have to show you guys what I saw when I was in Seattle. Before I started let me tell you from the beginning of the story. Calvin, Micheal and I was at the café having a tea section as we walked the whole piers to this fabulous restaurant for my birthday dinner as Micheal wanted to treat me as my gift. I’m so grateful to have friends like them.

It was my birthday weekend, and my group of friends had made the plan for me but I can’t even made it for it. Miss my own birthday bash. Anyways, it’s always happen for a reason. I see the reason why it’s happen and I thank god for him to open my eyes once again. He always protected me from being hurt again. So, being in Seattle was a blessed. I been asking God for a short vacation which I really needed one and I got it for my birthday as a gift from a dear friend. I’m so happy to be there and it’s my first time. Seattle was absolutely beautiful and relaxing.

Back to the café thingy, we were busy chit chatting while looking at the space needle. Something caught my eye which is this crazy telephone car. I was so stunt by it and quickly took out my camera as soon as possible from my bag. Thank God it was red light and the car have to stop and it’s like a god plan for it. I manage to take it just before it turned green. Lucky me! Check it our self…….

Anyways, my birthday is not bad as it turned. True friends always a true friends I have to say. If someone really care for that person, there never to late for anything. When we got back, my room mates bought me to Shabu-Shabu as we were graving for that in Seattle. We just can’t miss that to my surprised when I reached home, I got this huge birthday cake from them. It’s really sweet of them. I really thought, no one will celebrate my birthday this year.
Then, my sweet co-workers actually bought me for lunch and treat me. Good Thai food! I was so touch by them as my birthday was past. Then, we have a small gathering at work for June Babies and a Baby shower for my supervisor. I can’t explain how happy I am.
Then, this sweet girl who I always msn everyday. If you reading this, yes I’m referring you! Yes You! I have no idea that she actually wanted to treat me a dinner. I was assuming it was a normal hang out. But thanks babe, it was cheeky of you with the bill and the CAKE! Food was great too……… Garlic Eggplant and not to forget, the curry we made you taste. LOL!
And of course Ivy, Cypress and Herman. They always treated me as part of their family. I’m so grateful to met them. Being no family here is tough for me. Even thought my birthday past a week ago but they still want to celebrate it for me. We went to BBQ Palace for lunch. Yes, we smelled like BBQ for the whole day which we loved it. We spent most of the day together and I had so much fun. To my surprised, I got my favorite JUICY COUTURE necklace. I’d been talking about it for a week about the necklace to Calvin. He never sees me so excited about it. He he he………….I’m still playing with the box.

To the others that I miss. Please forgive me! I can only remember this so far which it was 2 months ago which I should had update it earlier. Those will be my most memorable birthday for 2008. Oh before I forget. Thanks Honey for the gifts…………. YOU'RE THE BEST FOR ME! Without you, I’m nothing………….

Geckos

When I was in China Town, Vancouver B.C. I came across this exotic herb store. The first thing I saw was this lizard or iguana. I was like, what the heck is that? And I found out, it’s actually good for our system as Chinese loves to cook herds and stuffs.

This little creatures called Geckos (Chinese pronounce: Bi Hu). These are sold in pairs of male and female. The reptiles are dried, and skewered so that the body remains flat. The head is removed before they go into a chicken soup cooked in steamer. As long as the gecko retains its tail, men will not refuse a bowl of this soup. Women have no fear the loss of the tail, and they take the soup to give their skin tone a boost. Ground into powder, the geckos become a medicine which can be given to children who suffer from asthma. Geckos can also be steeped in wine for a certain amount of time, and the resulting potion consumed.

Cuisine of Malaysia

When I was young, I never like to eat my lunch or dinner. In my mind is that, I just wanted to play with my neighbors. Maybe that’s why I’m so petite till today. As I grew up as a teenager, I kinda like to cook but never touch the kitchen coz my grandma always complaint about me making it messy. So, it’s better not to touch or anything. What I did was, I baked all the time. Easy to cleaned. Then, I moved away from my family to the city and have my own life. Everything is so different living by yourself. I have to do everything by my own and also financial budget. It’s a good thing I tried lived by my own and learned how to be independent.

Anyways, since I’m living by myself, the best way to save my money is to eat home. Something simple is ok for me. Then, I moved to the states and realized that it’s so hard to find a good Malaysian food. I graved a lot of food back home and I decided to cook my own. Since then, I love cooking and I got better each time. And I thought of myself, I don’t have to go to culinary school to be better. Then food network became my favorite channel. Before I go to bed, I usually watch for at least 30 minutes what ever it showed on that time. I learned a lot from it. Now, Food and photography is my passion!

I found out that, Malaysian food is very interesting. I never appreciated what I have when I lived in Malaysia and now I see why it is so special. If you live in Malaysia, you get to taste all kind of food. The Malay, Chinese, Nyonya, Indian and etc of cuisine. To me, I loved Spicy stuffs.

Rice is the staple food which is served at every meal. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Malaysian dishes are seasoned with shallots, curry spices, garlic, chili peppers and shrimp paste as well as with galingale, candlenut, coconuts milk, tamarind, lemongrass or palm sugar. Most Malaysian (mostly for the muslim) still eat with the fingers of their right hands. Of course, knives and forks are acceptable for the non-muslim.

Alright, I’ll tell more on the next entry.
